About me

Mats Tunehag is a writer, speaker and consultant originally from Sweden, now also based in the USA. He has among other things been active in media, religious liberty, anti-human trafficking, partnership development and Business as Mission. He has worked in more than half the countries of the world.

He is the Chairman of BAM Global, and a global thought leader on Business as Mission, BAM. Since the 1990’s he has created numerous networks of leaders from business, church, missions and academia from all continents. He has served as an advisor to groups involved in business, investment, freedom businesses, research and partnership development. He is the chief architect of the ‘Business as Mission Manifesto’ and the ‘Wealth Creation Manifesto’, which is a conceptual framework for the global BAM movement.

Business as Mission, BAM

Tunehag is the Chairman of BAM Global, which exists to accelerate and equip the global BAM movement. See www.BAMglobal.org

Starting in Central Asia in the 1990s he has had a special focus on developing the Business as Mission, BAM, concept as well as national, regional and global networks and initiatives.

In 2002 he initiated and co-led the first global think tank on BAM, which produced the Lausanne Paper on BAM as well as the BAM Manifesto (2004).  In 2011 he and Mrs Jo Plummer developed another much bigger global think tank on Business as Mission with over 30 national, regional and international working groups. Tunehag was also the Convener of the Global Consultation on the Role of Wealth Creation for Holistic Transformation. The Wealth Creation Manifesto is now available in 19 languages. See Wealth Creation for papers, Manifesto and video series.

Tunehag served part-time for 15 years with a global investment fund based on Christian values that helps SMEs to grow in size and holistic impact in the Arab world and Asia, by providing financial, intellectual and human capital. See https://transformationalsme.org/

Tunehag served for many years as a senior leader on Business as Mission in both the Lausanne Movement and World Evangelical Alliance. He lectures globally on Business as Mission, and his BAM material is available in over 20 languages.

Media

Together with three friends he started a national newspaper in Sweden 2001, and he was part of leading it and writing editorials on international affairs for ten years. 

Religious Liberty

He served on the Global Council of Advocates International, a global network of 30 000 lawyers in over 120 countries. (2008 – 2014)

Anti-human trafficking

He was the Chairman of the Freedom Business Alliance 2017 – 2019, and still serves as an advisor.

Partnership development

Tunehag has started and helped develop dozens of international partnerships & umbrella organizations, including Business as Mission networks and initiatives around the globe.

Personal

He is married to Jennifer from Alaska, and she has worked in anti-trafficking ministries nationally, regionally and internationally since the 1990s. She was one of the founders and leaders of both the European Freedom Network, and the Freedom Business Alliance. Jennifer is now the Director of the World Freedom Network. They live in Sweden and USA.
